JOIN THE MOVEMENT: MENTAL HEALTH WEEK 2024 CALLS FOR COMPASSION IN EDMONTON
Edmonton, AB: The countdown begins for Mental Health Week 2024, presented by the Canadian Mental Health Association Edmonton Region (CMHA-ER), as it unveils this year’s empowering theme: “Healing through Compassion”. From May 6 to 12, Edmontonians are invited to join a nationwide movement fostering understanding, empathy, and self-care in the face of mental health challenges.
As our communities struggle to cope with unprecedented stressors, Mental Health Week serves as a beacon of hope, advocating for mental wellness through the transformative power of compassion. With societal pressures on the rise, now more than ever, it’s crucial to extend kindness not only to others but also to ourselves.
Get Engaged:
This year’s lineup promises an array of engaging activities designed to inspire and uplift. CMHA-ER is proud to offer a series of free virtual webinars from May 7 to 10, covering topics ranging from workplace neurodiversity, self-compassion, and stress management. We highly encourage participants to RSVP early on the CMHA Events Page to ensure you save your spot for one or more of these webinars. Additionally, on May 9, participants can unwind and unleash their creativity during our in-person Decompression Session Paint Night—a night of relaxation and artistic expression for just $20.
Spread the Word:
Join the conversation on social media using the hashtags #CompassionConnects and #MentalHealthWeek. Download our free Compassion Toolkit, filled with user-friendly resources to spark compassionate action within your own business or community. Seek Support:
Many people don’t know where to start when seeking support. CMHA-ER staff and volunteers answer helplines that people can access for free, anytime, 24 hours a day:
- If you need help but aren’t sure what to do or whom to call, support is available by calling or texting 2-1-1.
- If you are thinking of suicide or worried about someone you know, call or text 9-8-8 for immediate assistance.
- If you or someone you know is in distress of any kind, you can also call the Edmonton Distress Line at 780-482-4357.
Whichever number you call, we’ll make sure you get the help you need.
Together, let’s champion compassion and pave the way for healing during Mental Health Week 2024. Join us as we embark on a journey of empathy, resilience, and collective well-being.
