Harmani Rentals: Building Stronger Communities Through Mental Health Awareness
Feb 27th, 2025
For the second year in a row, the staff, tenants, and contractors of Harmani Rentals have come together to participate in the Push-Up Challenge, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness of the 2,000 lives lost to suicide each day worldwide. As the 2025 campaign draws to a close, CMHA Edmonton sat down with Aman, Vice President of Harmani Rentals, to discuss the company’s commitment to mental health and how their collective efforts have made a significant impact across Alberta.
“All of our team members participated in the Push-Up Challenge, and it was really fun!
We raised money for a great cause… a really great cause!”

Harmani Rentals: More Than Just a Home
Founded three years ago, Harmani Rentals is a full-service rental company with 814 units across downtown Edmonton, Millwood’s, Calgary, and Fort McMurray. Offering a range of bachelor, one, two, and three-bedroom options for singles, couples, and families, the company goes beyond traditional housing by providing designated buildings for individuals facing mental health challenges. With plans to expand to 1,000 units this year, Harmani Rentals remains committed to ensuring their tenants have not only a place to live but a place to thrive.
A Harmonious Partnership for Mental Health
From the first interaction with Harmani Rentals, it’s clear that their approach is rooted in community, compassion, and care. Whether it’s delivering food to the unhoused, distributing 125 backpacks filled with essential resources for Edmonton’s less fortunate or collaborating with social workers and community partners to provide housing for those struggling with mental health, their dedication is unwavering.
After witnessing a colleague’s struggles with mental health, the Harmani Rentals team felt compelled to take action. This experience sparked conversations about the importance of open dialogue and led to their participation in the Push-Up Challenge—not just to raise awareness, but to raise vital funds to ensure CMHA Edmonton programs and services thrive for those who rely on them.
“We know mental health is a big issue, but people don’t talk about it enough. Especially in the communities we come from, it’s not even discussed. We should be talking more about it. It should be open so anybody can talk to anyone”
This February, Harmani Rentals set an ambitious fundraising goal of $10,000. What began as a small group of 11 participants in 2024 quickly grew into the triple digits as tenants, staff, suppliers, families and friends joined forces for the cause. Their collective determination not only helped surpass their fundraising goal by February 26, but the entire Hamani community continues to push forward in the campaign’s final days.
“It’s definitely a great cause—pushing ourselves for better mental health and being part of something bigger than ourselves”

Putting Wellbeing First
Beyond the Push-Up Challenge, Harmani Rentals prioritizes mental health within its team. Each quarter, staff participate in community initiatives, including food deliveries for the unhoused and contributions to local charities. The company also fosters a supportive work environment by hosting weekly team lunches and offering hybrid work options.
By creating an inclusive culture and providing a safe space for open conversations about mental health, Harmani Rentals continues to be a champion for wellbeing across Alberta. Their efforts prove that when businesses invest in mental health advocacy, they don’t just build homes—they build stronger, healthier communities.
