Critical Incident Group Debriefing Services
Jun 10th, 2022
Due to COVID-19, we are offering these services via online support. Please phone 780-732-6654 or email [email protected] for more information.
**If you are in crisis or distress, please call the Distress Line: 780-482-4357**
Our team offers debriefing support to adults, in groups or individually, who have experienced a critical incident. Groups may include families, friends, workplaces, or other social groups. Attending sessions is completely voluntary.
The debriefing process provides a safe place for people to talk about and share experiences related to the incident. It allows them to process their thoughts and emotions, and to understand their reactions following an unexpected experience that impacted their well-being. People learn ways to support themselves and each other, and are provided resources that will support their recovery.
Examples of Critical Incidents:
Critical Incidents may involve witnessing or being involved in:
- Someone in crisis or distress
- Death
- Suicide or attempted suicide
- Severe accidents, possibly related to machinery, motor-vehicles, or any apparatus
- Fires in homes or buildings
- Assault
We provide Critical Incident Group Debriefings as a one-time session at least three days after a critical incident. It is recommended that debriefings occur sometime up to two weeks after the incident.
Services are provided free of charge, although donations are welcome when a group debriefing is held at a worksite.
