The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training course was developed to help people provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health challenge or who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. The course does not train people to be therapists, counselors, or mental health professionals. The philosophy behind MHFA is that mental health crises, like suicidal and self-harming actions, may be avoided through early intervention. If a crisis does arise, then members of the public can take action that may reduce the harm that could result.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certificate

MHFA Certificate is an innovative and leading-edge program in the sector. MHFA now offers official certification. This in-depth course, upon completion and assessment, provides participants with:

• Increased Mental Health Awareness
• Improved mental well-being
• Enhanced confidence in efforts to decrease Mental Health Stigma

Fee

The fee for this course is $350.00 per person.

Registration

Pre-registration for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certificate is required. Spaces will not be held without payment. To register, please complete the online registration form below, or click here to download the PDF registration form. When complete, the form can be emailed to strongercommunities@cmha-edmonton.ab.ca, or mailed to 10232-106 St. NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 1H7.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Ifyou cannot be present for all hours of the workshop, you will not receive your certification. You cannot re-take the missed time and will be required to re-take the entire workshop at your expense, to receive your certification.

Cancellation Policy: CMHA-ER reserves the right to cancel workshops if minimum registration numbers are not met; if CMHA-ER elects to cancel a workshop, full refunds will be issued.

If a participant cancels their registration, a $50.00 cancellation fee will apply. If a participant cancels their registration fewer than 2 business days prior to the workshop, a refund will not be issued.

Transfer Policy: If you need to move your registration to a different course date, a $50.00 transfer fee applies. Please note that transfers cannot be made within 48 hours of the workshop. Once a transfer is processed, the registration can no longer be canceled.
